Subject: Intelligent Design
Not long ago, I made some critical remarks regarding creationism in our Blog (Not So Intelligent Design and Less So Intelligent Design). Essentially, as a Christian, I believe that there has been and continues to be a co-evolution of what we currently understand as matter and spirit, and further that it is a manifestation of Divine Providence. But that is a religious belief, not subject to empirical proof or disproof. It is not science. Moreover, when we confuse religion and science we diminish both, to the detriment of human knowledge in general.
That is why I oppose the teaching of Intelligent Design in anything other than college-level Philosophy of Science courses. The ID proponents simply have not made their case. If anyone cares to defend ID here, please read my blog entries, and then give it your best shot.
I'm ready to have an open mind. A real theory of intelligent design might be useful in the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence (SETI), and in the determination of whether humans really are the only intelligent species on earth.

Because there is more to Religion than pleasing your Imaginary Friend.
