Subject: Forum Software
Quite a few years ago, the Forum was migrated from the freeware WWWBoard to Discus, a commercial collection of cgi scripts written in perl. In March 2006 it was exploited by a spam bot that posted a bunch of spurious links, forcing us to eliminate posting by unregistered guests, and then hit with a Denial of Service (DoS) attack against the key script that enabled posting at all. Discusware, LLC is probably working on a fix in their next version, but that could be a while. So, it was time for a change.

The current Forum is powered by UNB (Unclassified Newsboard) a freeware effort primarily by a single person, Yves Goergen. It is written in PHP along with some JavaScript, and is strictly xml/xhtml compliant. It has some nice features, and what I think is a pretty look-and-feel (LAF).

But there are plenty of other forum systems out there, e.g., Simple Machines Forum, myBB, phpBB, and Phorum, to name a few.

Are there features you would like to see that are not implemented here? Suggestions for improving the LAF? Or would you like to recommend a different set of forum software altogether?
Because there is more to Religion than pleasing your Imaginary Friend.
