Subject: The Christian indifference to child raping clergy
The overwhelming unconcern for innocent children as victims of sexual monsters calling themselves 'men of god' is mind boggling. When people get into such an uproar for the injustice they believe has been done to the gay population yet would never stand up anywhere and voice equal concern for these children...well, what the hell is wrong with this picture? When people love their church or pastor more than they care about the welfare of children, that proves who their god is. The adult gay population can speak for themselves.  Children cannot protect themselves and what a pity and disgrace that so many are afraid to even address this subject.  I see you are like everyone else in the churches. You have found your comfort zone and too bad about crimes against children that go unpunished. I guess it is hard to enjoy that pretty building, the choir in their silly robes, the preacher with his shallow sermon if one has to bother with ugly realities. Carry on and don't give it a second thought. I won't clutter up your forum with subjects that obviously are trivial to you.

One more item and I will try to be quiet...for awhile. If you google 'children abused by pastors', you will get about 76 pages of disgusting horror.  Do you honestly think anyone in your comfy church is going to announce they rape kids?!!!  Some of these sick monsters had raped for years and years before they were found out. Some of their victims were grown and these creeps were still preaching the good old gospel and raping a new crop of kids. The facts and the proof is there for free to those who care.  If not, go on back to your church and continue to tell kids how god has angels all around to protect them!  And don't forget to keep them singing Jesus Loves Me, for the bible tells me so.  You pushed the wrong button with me on a subject you know absolutely zero about. People like you enable evil instead of doing something to rid the world of it.

It proves how many top level men are involved...that should scare the bejeebers out of anyone. Read this first link and then at the bottom of the page is a list of the others in the series. READ THEM ALL!
I forget who said that all it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.  That is total BS. Good people will not sit back and do 'nothing'. Cowards, self-serving, coldhearted, greedy and unconcerned people will do nothing.

You need to read Betrayal of Trust: Clergy Abuse of Children By Annie Laurie Gaylor if you truly think preist/clergy sexual abuse of children is rare and isolated. I also detest the fact that som many still regard these sick perverted parasites as 'men of god' who have broken their vows.  Sheesh, it is a proven fact that pedophiles go where there is easy access t o innocent children and where the parents teach the child to trust these dirtbags.  This book documents thousands of cases of some of the worst abuses ever prosecuted in this nation. Many people prefer to live in a la la land rather than face this fact, but the fact is that men who claim to be pastors and preists, called by some god, are raping and sodomizing children, even infants.

The best job in town for a sick pedophile is being a 'man of god'.  They don't work, get a free home, insurance, respect to the point of near worship, all the children they desire who have parents that have no clue but have taught them to trust and obey the preacher. No one suspects them for the low-life scum they are until a child's life has been destroyed. These monsters do not 'fall' they carefully choose and groom the children and know how to control them.  You most definately need to read this book. It is free online.

There is also an epidemic of child sex rings being operated from this nation. Next time you see a missing child flyer, look at that child and try to imagine the hell he/she may be going through. Child porno is flooding this nation via internet rings.  One detective reported videos with toddlers being raped while they screamed until they passed out. He said the 'shelf' life among abducted kids is about 2 years. As long as people choose to stay blind, there will be little hope for these precious children. I wonder where god is when children are being raped, sodomized, tortured and killed?  I worked in a school and then for a doctor and I have seen part of the ugly side. People debate over doctrine and few give a rats ass about this nations children...worse still, they really don't want to even know.

I think its important to remember that such abuse is not representative of "the church." In fact, i'd go so far as to say that a vast majority of churches, even catholic churches, nationwide and worldwide, do not face this specific problem. I have attended many churches in my life, mostly protestant, and was never exposed to or heard of sexual-abuse conspiracy taking place in those churches. I expect that most church-goers have had my experience. Being christian i understand the main objective of the body of the church is to spread the gospel. That vocation becomes increasingly difficult to flesh out when the failings (even triumphs) of one piece/denomination/section/sub-culture of the universal church are typified upon all other parts of the body. What those "spiritual leaders" did is horrendous, unholy, deceitful, ugly, sinful, disgusting but not unforgivable. I have no doubt the sexual predators and everyone involved in the conspiracy need Jesus very badly, and are less likely to find Him than others because they have been deceived into thinking that they could possibly be doing His Will while also living out lives of sin. I am heart-broken by their actions, and my heart goes out to those who were abused by people they put so much trust in. I am glad the humanity of the church, especially the catholic church is finally becoming obvious to the secular and non-secular alike, but it is unfortunate that reality surfaced so violently. The new testament called for communal confession for exactly this reason. When secrets are kept for too long, we become slaves to those secrets. They turn into idols that inevitably distance us from others because we fear the secret ever being revealed. Eventually the secret is all that is constant and the only thing that produces feeling at all, everything else just produces guilt. The structure of the catholic church sadly lends itself to secret very easily, thus satan found a foothold in some people's lives and casued mass amounts of pain and chaos.

Here is an excerpt from correspondence I have had on the above topic:

... It seems to me that sexual abuse by clergy is a many-layered form of betrayal. It betrays the - I'm going to be rude here and use a military word - target's trust in God, in those who would represent God (which is to say the entire Church), in the world and the way it works, in all those who might have protected the target (which is essentially humanity itself), and in the target's own self. And trust is the basis of attachment, which is the basis of Love, which is intimately connected to Faith.

Then there are the perpetrator's layers. The breaking of vows which is the breaking of his office. The destruction to the one thing a priest is called to build - a person's connection to God. The rationalization of it, or worse, the lack of need to rationalize. And worst of all - target selection. Human brains are marvelous pattern-recognition engines. Perhaps one reason why the abuse hurts so much is that the perpetrators consciously or unconsciously (well, pre-consciously) select those it will hurt the most.

Then there are the Church's layers. Denial, then cover-up, then damage control (e.g. the bankruptcy). It reminds me of a corporate reflex to escape pain rather than a human confession - a retreat deeper into sin, rather than a seeking for redemption. A failure of the Church to transcend being a merely human institution, acting no better than (and sometimes worse than) any other when things go badly for it. That is to say, in some ways the Church is failing even to be human, much less Godly.

 And this is only scratching the surface by one who was spared the ordeal...

So, here is a thread for one and all to post their thoughts on the subject.
